Our History

Founded by Dr. Robert Kutzner

Keck School of Medicine of USC, Class of 1981

MD Health Clinics was founded by Robert Russell Kutzner, M.D., an anesthesiologist and pain-medicine physician who cared for Orange County patients for decades. He graduated from the Keck School of Medicine of USC in 1981 and trained in anesthesiology and pain management at LAC+USC Medical Center.

Dr. Kutzner believed nobody should have to suffer with pain. He was also known for treating people with addiction with real compassion. He spoke publicly about safer opioid prescribing, including in a 2013 Orange County Register column, and he cared for military veterans through veterans’ community-care programs.

In memoriam

Dr. Robert “Bob” Kutzner passed away on May 30, 2024. His family and colleagues remember a physician who listened, who saw the whole person, and who never gave up on a patient, including those whom others had turned away. He is remembered as a Vietnam veteran who felt especially committed to caring for his fellow veterans. Our team carries his standard forward: careful, honest, physician-led medicine.
